Feedback for my website

We were told that the general outlook of the website is really nice and he especially likes the use of the signatures as he thinks that they are a nice personal touch. He also states how it is good how everything is interlinked with the album and the music video attached on the website. We learnt that our website is very informative and that the layout is simple and easy to navigate. It was also good that he could tell that the genre is a form of rock and stated that we could improve by having a search bar. However, due to the restrictions of the website in which we used to create our website, we were not able to do this.

Additionally, we were also given feedback that our website is very clear and relevant to the band, it is easy to navigate and the hyperlinks are useful. However, we were told that a smaller font for the titles on each page would be better but the title on homepage could be bigger. She also said that it was clear that it was of the indie-rock genre and the black and white photos creates the genre well. Overall, the website sells them as organic as it is simple and makes it seem as if they are their own, original people as it is different from other websites.

Narrative of my music video

The narrative of my music video is that a group of boys from different parts of London are coming together to fulfil their dream of becoming a band. This will signify how it doesn't matter where you're from and who you are, but music and the love for music is what brings people together.

Star image of my artists

We made our drummer similar to Vincent May, the drummer for Kodaline as we liked his smart sense of style as we think it is quite different and this is what makes them an indie-rock band. We also styled his hair so that it would be similar to that of Vincent's, giving him more of a rocky look.

As our lead singer Alex already has the hair of a rock-god, we wanted to emphasise this more by making him more like, Alex Turner, the lead singer of indie-rock band. Therefore, we have dressed him up in a leather jacket to bring out his rock-god star image and put gel in his hair to make his hair more like Turner's.

Jerry Cantrell was our inspiration for our guitarist, George as they both have long hair and a similar look on their face. We therefore dressed them up in similar clothing and made George stand like him, letting his hair down and not having it up in the photo shoot.

We got influence from bass guitarist Steve Albini for our bassist, Caleb as they both wear glasses. As Steve is wearing a hat in this picture, we thought we would give Caleb a hat but with a modern twist to make him fit in with a more up-to-date fashion trend. Therefore, we gave him a beanie to really emphasise his hipster style.

Analysis of audience questionnaire

Our audience questionnaire is effective as it asks our audience what they liked about our music video so that we are aware of the strengths in our skills and know that we have successfully appealed to our target audiences tastes. We also asked questions such as "what do you think the narrative was about?" as we wanted to make sure that the narrative was clear and that we were successful in getting it across to them. We asked the audience what they think needs to be improved so that we can understand where we went wrong if we did so that we could then go onto evaluating it. We asked whether the website was easy to use and clear so that we could ensure that we made it correctly and that there was not any struggle to use. Additionally, we asked who the preferred band member was as we purposefully showed more of the lead singer so that we could show him off to the audience and use him as the tool to attract fans and therefore we wanted to see if this was sensed by the audience. Although asking them how many music videos they watch a week seems completely unrelated to my music video, we want to find out if our music video is competing against many other music videos for any persons interest. We also asked if they think our band has an organic look to make sure that we portrayed them in the correct way through the music video, digipak and website. In order to know that we have made our band look as if they are from the indie-rock genre, we also asked what sort of features they think are ideal in an indie band so that we can check off what they say. We then asked what they would rate our music video and website on a scale of 1-10 so that we know what sort of standard we are on.

Feedback on digipak cover

After receiving this feedback for the front cover of our digipak, we were given some criticisms and have noted that it is not enough just to have the abbreviation of the band name on the front and that we will need to have the full name down the spines of the photo to make it clear what their name is. We were told that it is important to have their name clearly shown as it is their first album and their fans need to know who they are. It is also important to have their faces on the front cover for their first album so their fans know what they look like, therefore it is good that we have done this.

Some positives were that the colours in the picture were good as they made it clear that the genre of the band is rock and that their outfits make them come across as an organic band as it is not exactly what typical rock bands would wear, hence making them an alternative rock band. This is therefore good for their star image as they do not follow other bands.

Final draft feedback

From this final draft audience feedback, we have learnt that they liked how the lead singer portrayed his emotions with passion to the camera. They also liked the camera angles used, especially the low angles and the locations used were exciting. However, we were criticized on using the low angle shots against the buildings too much. They complimented our choice of narrative and noted how it worked really well with the video, as well as saying that the lip syncing looked a lot better. The audience all found that the narrative was clear and that they understood the story-line of the band members meeting up. They thought that our band was very similar to other indie-rock bands such as the Arcitc Monkeys and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and that our band was original and organic.
